Reflexology's Use By Famous Persons Nov 27, 2008 Amy Kreydin From an Egyptian Queen to a modern Princess, Reflexology is quite popular with male and female celebrities and historical people of importance.

Reflexology is an approximately 5,000 year old healing art that focuses pressure on the feet or
hand to improve organ and body functions in corresponding points. The theory is that
the feet contain mirrored maps of the body and by stimulating reflex points on those
maps the body is encouraged back to balance.
The use of 'healing hands' to relieve human suffering dates back thousands of years.
Evidence of their use in Ancient Egypt can be found at Saqqara, where a painting found
in the tomb of Ankhmahor (a physician to the Pharaoh) appears to show a reflexology
treatment being performed, dating back to about 2330 BC.
It is a deeply relaxing therapy but is not to be confused with an ordinary foot rub or the standard
foot massage. Reflexology is a science art and its technicians are trained to apply this pressure
therapy using specific techniques and skills. Historically, foot therapies were used by
Marc Antony and Cleopatra, the Native Americans and many other cultures.

A Reflexologist is not a doctor therefore cannot diagnose, prescribe or advise on any medical conditions. Although Reflexology has many benefits it should not be used in place of medical care, so always consult your GP or a health professional for medical attention and advice.
